题目:What makes an Asian world-class research university competitive globally?
演讲人:Dr. Anatoly Oleksiyenko, Faculty of Education, University of Hong Kong

摘要:The rise of world-class research universities in Asia has intrigued many competitors and collaborators in higher education across the globe. Universities from the Confucian heritage cultures are playing particularly strong leadership roles in setting the pace of changes in the region as well as globally. These universities are however subjects to numerous contextual conditions including the flows and concentration of resources defined beyond the traditional concept of financial assets. Creative talents, boundary-crossing opportunities, innovative infrastructures, selective excellence and competitive ambitions are increasingly important in shaping the university attractiveness among local and international students and sponsors. This presentation will address some of the resource dependence perspectives in the changing higher education by drawing on case-studies at four universities: Hong Kong University, Peking University, National University of Singapore, and National Taiwan University.
